nix is one of grime's soldiers in the toad army; place where he seeks shelter after becoming a fugitive due to fleeing from his previous occupation in captain bufo's army without anyone's knowledge. nix quickly grows fond of his leader... way too fond, which sparks an irrational fear in him... could he have caught feelings for him? no, it couldn't be, last time he let his heart guide his bond between him and his superior it had a disastrous outcome; there is a reason he had to escape from bufo, after all. for his own sake, nix didn't think about it too much and rubbed it under the carpet, focusing on his actual responsibilities as a soldier. the army was no place for feelings and he had to learn that the rough way.

with the arrival of sasha around the valley, grime saw a potential opportunity on her and quickly treated her as a child of his own, but, of course, he couldn't be her mentor alone... and that's where nix comes in! at first, grime wasn't too fond of nix; his optimistic personality could be a bit bothering and exhausting for him, but he didn't mind too much. as the days passed by, grime could feel that nix and him had formed a bond thanks to sasha, one that felt stronger than any other; he was in love. he didn't accept it at first, in fact, he was completely oblivious to the fact he liked him, but it didn't take him too long to figure it out. neither nix or grime now their feelings are reciprocal; nix fell in love first but grime fell in love harder, yet both are oblivious to the fact the other loves them as much as they do. everything goes on as normal until one day, after a date sasha had secretly planned for them to come out to eachother, they both sit together on the top of a small hill, where grime confesses his heartfelt feelings for nix, sealing that tension with their first kiss and officially initializing their new life together as boyfriends and as sasha's guardians.

it's been exactly 5 years since the three girls left amphibia. nix and grime have been living together in a small cabin around frog valley; nix harvests in gardening as a hobby while he waits for grime to come back home from serving olivia and yunan as a paladin. they now live a simpler life around the town, sometimes visiting the place they witnessed sasha at for the last time; even if they were in separate universes, they knew she still was their little kid. it's around this timespan where, after half a decade of dating and a long time convincing himself to give the first step, grime finally encourages himself to propose to nix, finally getting married and becoming husbands until death does them apart.
